Thesis Breaks Ground on New HQ
September 20, 2022
For Immediate Release:
This week, Thesis senior leadership broke ground at the site of its eventual Northwest Portland headquarters. The intimate ceremony included Thesis leadership, project partners at Swinerton commercial construction, LEVER Architecture, First Citizens Bank, Urban Resources, and Thesis’s investment partner, Pat Kessi.
During the past three years, the rebranded Portland-based agency has experienced exponential growth. Some would say groundbreaking — and they’d be right. Under the leadership of current CEO Keely York and past CEO Ryan Buchanan, who remains active as Chairman of the Board, Thesis has grown from 120 employees to more than 350 employees. Such vigorous growth prompted Thesis to strengthen its Rose City roots by building a base camp where its employees, clients, and partners can gather.
“We are doubling down on community by investing in our people and in Portland,” York says. “Since we are a distributed workforce, we won’t ask people to revert back to an in-person schedule. Rather, our new HQ will create physical space for impactful events, gatherings, brainstorms, comradery, client meetings, and more. It will be an epicenter for our people, when we choose to gather.”
The fast-growing digital agency chose a well-known site in Northwest Portland to build its new HQ. Formerly the home of a now-relocated US post office, the NW 24th & Savier site will be transformed into a stunning four-story property with all the allure of a creative environment that is laser-focused on building a healthy, inclusive culture that values its employees and clients equally. Thesis, formerly known as eROI, will occupy the entirety of the 41,000-square-foot creative space, which is slated to be completed in late 2023.
The irony of a digital marketing agency moving into a physical footprint once occupied by a non-digital postal service is not lost on Thesis leadership. Instead, they view it as an honorable passing of the guard. As the Portland skyline continues to crowd with apartment buildings, the ethos of Thesis’s new HQ is anchored in sustaining and growing Portland as a business hub. As a B Corp, Thesis is ever committed to providing communal and cultural enrichment as well as demonstrating environmental responsibility via the building’s Gold LEED Certified status.
“We believe strongly in Portland,” says Buchanan. “Our people don’t necessarily want to go to the suburbs or work in a leased, ultra-corporate office. We’re building a space that creates an ideal environment where people can gather, work, and collaborate. And it’s less than point-four miles from Forest Park. How cool is that?”
As an agency, Thesis remains hell-bent on leaning into its core values of problem-solving, redefining full-service, working toward a better world, and humanizing any shape of digital. The new Thesis HQ building will set a strong foundation for all of these extraordinary efforts to come to life.
