In 1999, the term "creative services" cemented itself within the lexicon of Portland's advertising, marketing, and public relations agencies.
The moniker, which groups also affixed to branding and entertainment specialists, arrived as such enterprises arrived to tout a growing array of emerging industries: tech, footwear and apparel, to name two burgeoning clusters.
Today, many of the agencies that sprouted or grew during the dot-com years still produce quality work from their Portland base. Still others have spawned as staffers who learned their craft at Wieden+Kennedy, one of the world's premier advertising groups, left the agency to hang their own shingles.
Two decades after the advent of Portland's creative services sector, we asked a few agencies that sit near the top of our Advertising & Marketing Agencies List what campaigns they remember emerging from the Rose City. Here's a small sample of their own-words takes on those historic efforts (note: to acknowledge their good work, we did allow respondents to choose some of their own campaigns).
